What this does

Scales an image up (2×, 3×, 4×) and interpolates the new pixels so edges stay smoother than a plain stretch. It cannot invent detail that was never captured, but it makes small images usable at larger sizes.

When to use it

A logo or icon that is only available small.
Old photos at low resolution for a slideshow.
Screenshots that must be readable in a document.

Good to know

Go up in one step, not several — each pass adds softness. Above 4× most images look painted rather than photographed.
