Image to Base64
What this does
Encodes an image file as a Base64 text string, ready to drop into HTML (<img src="data:image/png;base64,…">), CSS or JSON. The image then travels inside the file instead of as a separate request.
When to use it
- Tiny icons and logos in an email template or a single-file HTML page.
- Embedding an image in a JSON API response.
- Avoiding an extra HTTP request for a very small asset.
Good to know
Base64 is about 33% larger than the binary file and cannot be cached separately. Keep it for images under roughly 10 KB.
