Base64 Encode
What this does
Converts text or binary data into Base64 — a set of 64 safe characters (A–Z, a–z, 0–9, +, /) that survives systems which only handle plain text, such as email headers, URLs and JSON.
When to use it
- Basic HTTP authentication headers (
user:passwordencoded). - Putting binary data into a JSON or XML field.
- Storing a small file inline in a config.
Good to know
Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Anyone can decode it instantly — never use it to hide secrets.
