MD5 Generator
What this does
Computes the MD5 hash of any text — a fixed 32-character hexadecimal fingerprint. The same input always gives the same hash; a one-character change gives a completely different one.
When to use it
- Checking that a downloaded file matches the checksum a site publishes.
- Making a short, stable key from a long string (cache keys, deduplication).
- Comparing two texts without sending them anywhere.
Good to know
MD5 is not safe for passwords or signatures — collisions are easy to make. For anything security-related use SHA-256 or a password hash such as bcrypt.
