What this does
Adds sales tax to a price, or works out the pre-tax price and tax amount from a total, at any percentage.
When to use it
- US purchases where the shelf price excludes tax and rates differ by state and city.
- Splitting a receipt total into net and tax for expenses.
Good to know
Combined US rates run from 0% (Oregon, Delaware) to over 10% in some cities. Check the local rate; the tool does not look it up.
