Text to Octal
What this does
Shows each character's code in base 8. "A" (65) becomes 101. Octal escapes such as \101 still appear in C, shell scripts and file permission talk.
When to use it
- Writing octal escapes in a C string or a printf format.
- Classroom exercises on number bases.
Good to know
Octal uses digits 0–7 only. If you see an 8 or 9, the number is not octal.
