What this does

Converts reactive power between volt-amperes reactive (var), kvar and Mvar.

When to use it

  • Reading a power-factor correction capacitor bank rating.
  • Utility bills that charge for reactive demand.

Good to know

Reactive power does no useful work but loads the wires. Apparent² = real² + reactive² (the power triangle).
