Number to Roman Numerals
What this does
Converts a number from 1 to 3,999 into Roman numerals. 2026 becomes MMXXVI; 49 becomes XLIX.
When to use it
- Copyright years, film sequels, chapter numbers, clock faces.
- Checking a date carved on a building or printed in a book.
Good to know
Subtractive pairs (IV, IX, XL, XC, CD, CM) are used, so 4 is IV not IIII. There is no zero and no standard form above 3,999.
